Rock Buns

Introduction

Please note this recipe uses self raising flour - if you can't get self raising flour use plain or all purpose and add 1tsp baking powder. Please note this recipe uses self raising flour - if you can't get self raising flour use plain or all purpose and add 1tsp baking powder.
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    225g (8oz) self raising flour
    100g (4oz) margarine
    75g (3oz) currants
    25g (1oz) raisins
    50g (2oz) caster sugar
    1 egg
    milk to mix

Directions

Heat the oven to 200C (400F, gas 6)
Prepare 2 baking trays
Rub margarine into flour
Stir in dried fruit, currants, raisins and sugar
Mix to a stiff dough with egg and milk
Place in rough heaps on baking trays
Bake for 10-15 minutes

  • Finding this recipe here was a pleasant suprise :)
    It takes me back to my very first baking experiences in primary school....
    These are the easiest things to make (probably why we made them as children). They will not look pretty but that is part of their rustic charm. - 1/29/11
