Introductionsoft and chewy cookies soft and chewy cookies
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
1 cup softened butter
1 cup shortening (Crisco, butter-flavored)
1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract
4 large eggs
2 cups (1 small bag) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt - set aside.
Beat butter, sugars, and flavorings in a mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Gradually beat in flour mixture.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 8 1/2 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Makes about 5 dozen normal sized cookies.
