Pear - Crowned Ginger Cake

Pear - Crowned Ginger Cake

Introduction

Adapted heavily from Gourmet June 2009, a fresh-ginger spiked cake batter is topped with a starburst of ripe pear slices. No butter in this recipe - cream cheese provides a luxurious body instead. • I only added some cinnamon, as it seemed apt! I had high hopes for this cake, because the recipe is simple and it looked glorious taking it out of the oven. Although tasty enough, it's missing something, and is a bit heavy. I don't think I will make it again. - 9/19/13
