Ingredients
-
Angela Mia Crushed Tomatoes 102 oz can (from Sam's Club)
1 29 oz can of Hunts Tomato Sauce
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 large onion, white or red, finely chopped
4 to 6 cloves of garlic, minced or grated
2 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 tbsp dried basil
2 tsp dried thyme
You could add oregano if you like, as well as mushrooms or the meat of your choice. I prefer using red onion as it is a little sweeter than white onion.
Directions
Serving size is 1/2 cup Makes Total of 16 1/4 cups
Place 5 quart non-stick pan on medium-high heat, add extra virgin olive oil. Finely chop onion and add to oil. Stir well. Turn heat down to medium heat once onions start to sizzle. Mince or grate garlic into onions. Once onions are clear add the entire can of crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce, stir well. Add onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, basil and thyme. You can season to your taste with other herbs and spices. Mix herbs and seas, onings into sauce well and put lid on the pan and let simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes on medium-low heat.
This makes up a little more than 3 quarts of sauce. Store in air tight container in refrigerator or you can freeze as well.
