Ingredients

1 1/4 cups whole-wheat flour
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cups dark brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup trans-fat free margarine
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 large egg whites
1 Tbs. vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups quick or old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup raisins
Directions
Preheat oven to 375. Spray baking sheets with cooking spray.
Combine flours, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl. Beat sugars, margarine, and applesauce in large mixing bowl. Beat in egg whites and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in oats, raisins, and walnuts; mix well. Drop rounded tablespoons onto baking sheets.
Bake 9-10 minutes for chewy cookies, or longer for crispy ones. Cool on sheets for a few minutes then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
