Italian Meat Sauce

Introduction

A great sauce for pasta or lasagna. At 116 calories per 1 cup serving, you can't go wrong. With a cup of pasta and a low fat salad, you have a meal. It is low enough in fat you could have a piece of garlic bread too! All for about 400 calories! A great sauce for pasta or lasagna. At 116 calories per 1 cup serving, you can't go wrong. Ingredients

    1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
    3 14 oz can of diced tomatoes
    1 Large Jar of Favorite Spaghetti Sauce (Ragu Tomate Basil)
    1 onion diced
    3 cloves garlic, pressed
    1 tbsp dried oregano
    1 tbsp dried basil
    1 tbsp dried parsley
    1 tsp red pepper
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1 cup water (add more as needed)

Directions

Brown beef, garlic and onion and drain well. Rinse if needed. Add spices and cook a few minutes to bring out flavor. Add tomatoes, sauce, and water. Gently simmer over low heat for several hours until flavors have blended. (Great in a crockpot.) You can add 1-2 tablespoons of tomato paste if not thickened. Serve over pasta or use in lasagna.

1 serving is 1 cup. Should make 12-14 cups.
