Classic Goulash

Ingredients

    1 tbsp vegetable oil
    1-1/2 lb. ground beef
    1/2 medium green bell pepper, chopped
    1 small onion, chopped
    1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, quartered
    1 jar (28 oz) spaghetti sauce
    1 package (8 oz) elbow macaroni, cooked according to package directions
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1 cup (4 oz) shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
2. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, bell pepper, onion and mushrooms and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring to crumble the beef until no pink remains; drain excess liquid.
3. Add the remaining ingredients except the cheese; mix well. Place in a 2-1/2 quart casserole dish, cover and bake for 22 to 25 minutes.
4. Remove the cassrole from the oven, uncover, and top with the mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered for 5 to 7 minutes or until heated throught and the cheese is melted.
