I make a taco seasoning similar to this, and use it in chili, enchiladas, etc. To your recipe above I add 2 tsp. cocoa powder, 2 tsp granulated garlic, 1 tsp. adobo seasoning (which contains some salt). You can also add smoked chili powder (chipotle) if you like a little hotter and spicier. - 11/2/09

Has anyone noticed a discrepancy between this recipe and Chef Meg's recipe in the SparkPeople Cookbook? In the cookbook it's 3 parts cumin,1 part chili powder , 1 part red pepper flakes.. here is 3 parts chili powder,1 part cumin,1 part red pepper flakes. I use the cookbook version and love it. - 7/7/12

We made the Taco Filing receipe from Fionnualla posted on sparkpeople and used this as the taco seasoning the receipe called for. Was not spicy at all when used in that receipe. Perfect flavoring! The kids and the skeptic hubby loved it enough to say we will not be buying packets in the future. - 12/30/09

I prepare and can my own hot pepper sauce which in addition to a medley of chili peppers contains garlic, ginger, and a dash of red wine. Our culinary tastes remain southeast asian so I retain a large supply to share with our many friends! So, we use this in our taco sauce with the cumin/cayenne. - 12/19/09

I make this differently according to the Taco Seasoning packet with my own ingredients and I will get into that later. I will probably post my recipe for this in my recipe collection. This one does well but it just doesn't taste the same as your packaged Taco Seasoning. I already posted once. - 2/27/13

I have used this on chicken for fajita style chicken tacos, and also on ground turkey for tacos, and it was very good in both. Easy to make in small batches, and you don't have to go out and buy several different spices, which can get expensive These are spices I keep in my pantry already. - 11/18/12
