Introduction

Air-popped equivalent Air-popped equivalent
Number of Servings: 1

Ingredients

    1/4 cup popcorn kernels
    brown paper bag

Directions

No more buying packages of microwave popcorn!
Just put 1/4 cup of kernels into a brown paper bag, fold the top of the bag twice (about an inch or two of the bag) and set it upright on your microwave turntable. Set the timer for 2 minutes and listen to see if popping sounds slow down before the time is up to avoid burning the popcorn.

This is a great idea and we all loved it. However, the calorie count is too low for the whole bag. It is actually closer to 100 calories for the bag. - 7/8/10

Wow, so easy I should have thought of it, but I'm glad you wrote it up.

Ideas for toppings - oregano & parmesan cheese; true lime packet and chili powder, a little of the cheese from a mac and cheese dinner, 1 Tablespoon of sugar and cinnamon, some Uncle Dan's Ranch dressing powder, garlic powd. - 8/25/09

  • I have actually gone to the store looking to see if they had a gadget to make popcorn in the microwave and I have asked many people if they knew. This is so simple, I can't believe it's not common knowledge! I use olive oil and a no fat shaker cheese for topping. - 5/2/10

  • I'm a popcorn FIEND and so grateful to find a recipe that elimates the fat/calories in oil popped corn. I used to pop it in oil and then add Tobasco sauce to the butter that I poured on top. Now, I make it this way, spread it on a cookie sheet, spray it with PAM & seasonings of my choice. Delish! - 12/22/07
