Basic Chili, Spicy as you like...

Submitted by: DRVILLEN

Introduction

I post this as something I make for the kids, they are older. So they do not mind spicy food. I use a bit of ketchup instead of tomato sauce to give it a tomato taste, this helps to cut back on the calories and sodium. I post this as something I make for the kids, they are older. Ingredients

Ground Beef (extra lean), 22 oz
    Celery, raw, 4 stalk, medium (7-1/2" - 8" long)
Goya Dark Red Kidney Beans, 2 cups (1.5 cup dry beans)
    Ketchup, Heinz, 6 tbsp
Club House Tex Mex Chili Mix, 10 tsp
Potato, raw, 2 medium (2-1/4" to 3-1/4" dia.)
    Thyme ground 1Tbsp
    Garlic powder, 1 tbsp
    Water, tap, 6 cup

Directions

Brown ground beef and drain off fat. Add the chili mix, garlic powder, thyme, ketchup and salt, after draining beef. Let it cook a little longer about 10 minutes to absorb the seasonings. Add the water and bring to a slow boil. While the beef is simmering, chop up celery, dice potatoes, rinse kidney beans.
Add the rest of the ingredients and allow to simmer covered for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally. The liquid will boil off a bit and it will thicken up. Makes about 10 servings.
