Italian Meatloaf

Introduction

Ingredients

    1 1/2 lbs. lean ground beef (93% lean)
    1 cup nonfat milk
    1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
    2 tsp. chopped fresh basil leaves or 1/2 tsp. dried basil
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ground mustard
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 clove garlic, finely chopped, or 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1 egg
    3/4 cup Progresso plain dry bread crumbs
    1 small onion, chopped
    1/2 cup chopped red or green bell pepper
    1/4 cup ketchup, chili sauce, or barbecue sauce

Directions

1) Heat oven to 350 F. Mix all ingredients except ketchup.
2) Spread mixture in ungreased 8*4 or 9*5-inch loaf pan, or shape into 9*5-inch loaf in ungreased 13*9 inch pan. Spread ketchup over top.
3) Insert ovenproof meat thermometer so tip is in center of loaf. Bake uncovered 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until beef is no longer pink in center and thermometer reads at least 160 F. Let stand for 5 minutes; remove from pan.
