Introduction

This is a simple French Bread recipe for your bread machine. This is a simple French Bread recipe for your bread machine.
Number of Servings: 18

Ingredients

    Water, 1 Cup
    Sugar, 2 tsp
    Salt, 1 1/2 tsp
    Bread Flour, 3 Cups
    Bread Machine Yeast, 1 1/4 tsp
    Vital Wheat Gluten (optional) 4 tsp

Directions

Add wet ingredients to bread pan first and then add dry ingredients. It is not necessary to add the Vital Wheat Gluten, however I do because the loaf seems dry to me without it. The Program setting I use is "French" and I usually use "light" crust color. This recipe will make a 1.5 lb loaf. I slice mine thin and I usually get about 18 slices out of a loaf.
