Number of Servings: 3

Ingredients

    1/3 cup soy sauce
    1 T sake
    1 T cornstarch
    2 T olive oil
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 tsp ginger root, grated
    2 T onions, chopped
1 lb beef, cubed or sliced into bite-size pieces (your favorite cut)
    1 cup snow peas, trimmed
    1 cup bamboo shoots
    1 cup sliced water chestnuts
    1/2 cup bean sprouts
    3 cups short grain rice

Directions

Whisk soy sauce, Sake, and cornstarch together in a small bowl; set aside.

Heat olive oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add ginger, garlic, and onion; saute until just starting to brown. Add pea pods; saute until bright green. Push peapods up onto sides of wok. Add beef; cook until no longer pink (time to cook depends on size of slices). Add bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, and bean sprouts, stirring all until heated through.

Push all ingredients up the sides of wok, making a clear spot in the center. Re-whisk the sauce and pour into the wok. The mixture should begin to bowl and thicken immediately. When sauce reaches desired texture (add water to thin if needed), stir together and serve over rice.

Makes 3-4 hearty servings.
