100% Whole Grain Wheat/Barley Bread-Machine

Introduction

100% Whole Grain.
1 1/2 Pound Loaf
This makes a very soft bread that will stay soft for days if you keep in out of the refrigerator. I keep the extra in the freezer, and take out a few slices at a time.

This makes a very soft bread that will stay soft for days if you keep in out of the refrigerator. I keep the extra in the freezer, and take out a few slices at a time.

Number of Servings: 18

Ingredients

    1 Cup Warm Water
    2 1/2 Teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
    3 Tablespoons Flax Seed-ground (optional)
    2 Tabelspoons Light Brown Sugar
    2 Tabelspoons Honey
    2 Tabelspoons Oil (Grapeseed is excellent)
    1 Tabelspoon Soymilk or Milk
    1/8 Teaspoon Ginger Powder (just a pinch)
    1/4 Cup Vital Wheat Gluten (helps with the texture)
    3/4 Cup Barley Flour (keeps the bread soft)
    2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
    1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt

Directions

Put all ingredients in bread machine as listed. I use the "Light" setting on my Breadman machine.

  • I found this too be an excellent bread especially for those with high blood sugar. Like everything else it has to be eaten in moderation because this is a great bread and you could find yourself over indulging. easy to make and very tasty - 3/7/10
