Introduction

Fresh bold flavor...great for using excess tomatoes from your garden. Fresh bold flavor...great for using excess tomatoes from your garden.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    2 cups milk
    1 small onion studded with 6 cloves or used small amount of ground cloves
    1/2 cup bread crumbs
    2 cups chopped ripe tomatoes
    1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    1 tsp salt or to taste

Directions

Place milk , bread crumbs and onion ,cloves and salt in to large saucepan. Heat over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Remove onion ( I remove studded cloves and chop onion and put it back in soup).
Add chopped tomatoes and baking soda stir and cook for about 15 minutes or until tomatoes and onion are soft. Puree with hand blender or sieve until desired consistancy is reached. Adjust seasonings and reheat until very hot but not boiling.
