Baked Garlicky Pita Chips

These baked pita chips are the perfect accompaniment to dips and salsas, as well as a handy snack to have at hand.

These are crispier if you turn off the oven for about an hour.

These are crispier if you turn off the oven for about an hour.

Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    3 (6 1/2-inch) whole wheat pita breads
    1 clove garlic, pressed
    1 tbsp EVOO
    1/4 tsp sea salt
    1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper

    FOR A VARIATION ADD:
    2 tsp ground cumin (added to garlic and oil)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F° .
1) Stir together garlic and oil; brush both sides of the pita bread. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
2) Stack pitas; cut stack into 6 wedges. Place wedges in a single layer on ungreased baking sheets; bake at 350F° for 6 to 8 min­utes or until crisp.
Makes 18 Garlicky Pita Chips...3 chips per person or 1/2 of a pita bread

  • Thanks so much for this recipe. I have just put a batch in the oven. Didn't have ground cumin so I sub'd ground coriander instead (just a small amt). Also had some grated cheese left over from lunch, too small a qty to put away but wasteful to throw out. The garlic smell is great! Can't wait for thm - 7/26/10
