Turkey Baked Ziti

Submitted by: NJMICKEY

Introduction

This is a healthy twist on baked ziti that adds protein and vegetables. For about 350 calories you get a pretty large serving. Serve it up with a salad and steamed vegetable for a satisfying meal. Ingredients

    1 pound round turkey
1 can any large sauce with cheese that is about 50 calories a serving (I use a can and sometimes add a small can of plain sauce too if needed.)
    1 large onion
1/2 a package of mushroom (or the whole package if you like them.)
    3 garlic cloves (or more!)
cooking spray for cooking meat and onion
Pasta almost a box, about one-two serving less. (I used the Ronzoni smart balance but I couldn't find it in the system.)
    shredded mozarella cheese

Directions

1. Cook pasta according to package directions.
2. Brown turkey in cooking spray. Add onions before meat is completely cooked. Add mushroom and garlic for the last 2 minutes of cooking.
3. Drain fat.
4. Mix pasta, sauce, and meat in a cooking pan. Top with cheese.
5. Bake at 350 for about 20-30 mintues. (I prepare it a day or two in advance and store it in the fridge before baking it. Then bake when ready to serve and add a littleextra cooking time (and that extra can of sauce so it doesn't dry out).
