Introduction
Large enough for two people (120 calories each)- or a filling "meal" for one... My family loves these. A great way to get your protein, dairy and fruit in one serving-- very filling! Even a friend who doesn't like cottage cheese loves this! Large enough for two people (120 calories each)- or a filling "meal" for one... My family loves these. Ingredients
-
1/2 cup 1% Milk
1/2 cup Lowfat 1% Cottage Cheese
4-8 packets of Splenda (or sweeten to taste w/ your choice of sweeteners)
1/2 tsp. Vanilla or Almond extract (optional)
2 cups (300 grams) Strawberries, frozen, unsweetened
Tips
Do not add the frozen fruit until cottage cheese is blended smooth.
Directions
Place the milk, cottage cheese, sweetener and extract in blender and blend until completely smooth and all lumps are gone (30 seconds). NOTE: DO NOT ADD FROZEN FRUIT UNTIL COTTAGE CHEESE IS BLENDED SMOOTH.
Then add frozen strawberries (or frozen fruit of choice) a few at a time, blending in-between each addition until all are added and shake is smooth.
This is HUGE- large enough to share with 2 people (120 calories each)- but drinking the entire shake myself can serve as a very filling meal.
Try it with frozen blueberries, frozen berries or frozen peaches. WONDERFUL!!! The key is to blend the milk and cottage cheese until smooth before adding your fruit.

This was pretty good. I wasn't sure about the cottage cheese (although I do love it with strawberries). But this actually tasted like strawberry cheesecake. I used fresh strawberries because it's what I had and added some ice. Used it as a meal replacement for lunch. Will definitely make again - 3/22/10

I didn't like it. Sorry... I'm not a cottage cheese fan by far, and it of course had the overwhelming taste. I tried it because the author said friend who also didn't like it still liked the shake. For added fiber, I used Splenda with Fiber for those who need a fiber boost it could work for them. - 9/1/08

An awesome and filling shake - great for after a workout. I echo some other reviewers thoughts on using Splenda - I just can't stomach it. I used 3 packages of stevia and found it was plenty sweet, although next time I'd probably just go with a spoonful of honey and avoid fake-sweet altogether. - 4/28/11

OMG,I just made this in my vita mix, turned out like soft serve ice cream. This is a keeper for sure.Going to freeze part of it and see what happens (if it gets ice crystals or not)Used no sweetner but added my protein powder. My diet is no nuts or seeds so I blend the berries and strain, then freeze. - 2/24/13

Just made this tonight for dessert! YUMMY! I added a little bit of greek yogurt, soy milk and scoop of vanilla protein powder making it over 50 grams of protein. Amazing I might have to make this for breakfast in the morning. I wonder if honey would be good in it if not I'll stick to sweet n low - 2/19/12

I reduced the cottage cheese to 1/3 c., used peaches instead of strawberries, & instead of extract added 6 almonds to boost the calories, fat and protein while adding only 1 g. carbs. I used one packet of Stevia instead of 6-8 of Splenda. A little water thinned it to a sherbet-like texture. Delish! - 5/9/11

I made a few substitutions, I used 1/2 cup vanilla coconut milk, and I used fresh mixed fruits, 2 ozs ea of mango, banana, pineapple, cantelope, and strawberries.......also instead of using all cottage cheese I mixed 1/2 greek honey yogurt + 1/2 cottage...This is my breakfast drink before exercising - 4/9/11
