Brazil Nut Patties

Introduction

Vegetarian burger alternative. Vegetarian burger alternative.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 can (15 oz) beans, with liquid; black-eyed peas are best; if using freshly cooked beans, 2 cups.
    1 cup rolled oats, uncooked
    1/2 cup chopped onions
    1/2 cup finely chopped Brazil nuts
    1/2 teaspoon sage, or to your taste
    1/2 teaspoon salt, or to your taste

Directions

Mash beans, combine all ingredients and let stand 10 minutes. Form into 12 small patties. Fry or bake on a cookie sheet for 15-25 minutes at 350. Use for sandwiches or serve with brown gravey or tomato sauce for a main dish. Two patties equal one serving.
