Homemade Hamburger Pizza

Submitted by: BETHST1

Introduction

I make this with a thin crust. I also use as many fresh ingredients as possible to cut back on salt and useless calories. I roll out the dough on a small cookie sheet. should fill the sheet, then add the toppings. I makes a good size pizza. I make this with a thin crust. Ingredients

    pizza dough:
    1 pkg dry yeast
    3/4 c warm water (120-130 degrees)
    2 c flour
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp sugar
rosemary chopped ( fresh if possible)
    thyme ( fresh if possible)

    Topping:
1 lb Lean hamburger, cooked and drained. (normally I use turkey burger but hubby wanted the beef. Turkey burger would be the same amount of meat)
1 cup Shredded cheese, I use mex mix shredded cheese.
1 cup green bell pepper chopped ( red or yellow is also fine)
    1/4 c mushroom
    finely chopped garlic
I use fresh tomato for sauce, slice up 2-3 tomatoes and cook down for sauce. No salt added.
1 cup onion, sliced or chopped ( your preference )

Directions

Chop up your tomatoes and put in small sauce pan and let them cook down if you are going to use your own tomatoes.
Cook up the hamburger ( or turkey burger) drain and set aside.
In a large bowl mix up the dry yeast with the warm water and set aside for 5 minutes. Add the flour, salt , sugar, rosemary and thyme. Mix to blend. Knead for 2-3 minutes until flour is well blended. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
While dough is rising: set out your cheese you are using, chop up the onion, bell pepper, mushroom, and garlic. Set aside.
Roll out the dough in your cookie sheet that has been lightly sprinkled with corn meal to keep from sticking. Should cover the whole cookie sheet. top with your tomato sauce that you had cooking down. Add cheese, burger, bell pepper, mushroom, garlic. Top with more cheese. Place in 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Crust should be light brown on edges and topping bubbly.
Take out and let cool for few minutes. Cut into 3x3 square servings.
