This is a recipe I got from Simply Ming. Tastes pretty much like stuffed cabbage without the hassel of stuffing. They are simple meat balls that are steamed with cabbage in a steamer. Ingredients
-
1 lb of ground turkey meat.
1/2 cup of quaker oats oatmeal
1/2 cup onion finely diced
cayenne pepper to taste for spice
1 clove garlic finely diced to taste
2 Tblsp worcestershire sauce
1 small head of cabbage chopped.
Directions
Mix together in a large bowl the:
Turkey, oatmeal, onion, cayenne pepper, garlic, worcestershire sauce.
Make a small bite size ball and drop into boiling water. It will cook in just a couple of minutes. Let it cool enough to taste. If to bland add a little more spice to taste to the mixture. When samples taste good to you, it is time to slice up the cabbage and place in bamboo steamer. You are going to line the bottom of the steamer trays with cabbage to keep the meatballs from sticking. when all the trays are lined it is time to make the meatballs. Place them on top of the cabbage. When tray is full, we like to add a little more shredded cabbage on top, then place 2nd tray on top. Continue untill all your trays are full. Top off with more shredded cabbage and cover. Place over pan of boiling water and let cook for 15-20 minutes. Depending on how many trays you have and how big the steamer. For a medium steamer this takes about 3 trays. After 10 minutes you may want to check them to see if they are done. Serving size is about 5 meatballs with cabbage.
