Skillet Spaghetti

Number of Servings: 7

Ingredients

    1 lb Lean ground beef (can use turkey too)
    1C onion, chopped
    1 can whole tomatoes (28 oz)
    1/2 C Water
    1 can (4oz) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
    2tsp salt
    1tsp sugar
    1 tsp chili powder
    7 oz spaghetti, broken into pieces
    1C 2% Shredded Cheddar Cheese

    Brown hamburger and onion in dutch oven until light brown, drain. Stir in tomatoes (with Liquid), water, mushrooms, salt, sugar, chili powder, and spaghetti; break up tomatoes with a fork. Heat to a boil, reduce heat . Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until spaghetti is tender, about 30 min. (add water during cooking if needed.) Sprinkle with Cheese. Cover and heat until cheese is melted.

    If I were to make this I would definitely leave out the 2t of salt, it's just not needed with the canned tomatoes! I would use fresh mushrooms, instead of canned, to further reduce the sodium - 9/26/09
