Croatian Goulash

Introduction

One of my familys favorites
My family calls this the "miracle of the Goulash" as it make a great gravy without adding any liquid.

My family calls this the "miracle of the Goulash" as it make a great gravy without adding any liquid.

Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1190 gm. beef stew meat
    737 gm chopped onions
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    pinch of baking soda
    2 level T. paprika
    3 cloves garlic, chopped
    1 tsp Vegeta
    1 tsp black pepper
    1 tsp salt

Directions

Saute chopped onions in oil till soft. I usually add just a pinch of Bakng soda to help soften them. When onions are soft add chopped garlicand cook another 2-3 minutes. careful not to brown garlic. Add paprika, Vegeta, salt and Pepper. Mix well then add beef stew meat that has been rinsed, mix well. Cover and when it comes to a boil reduce heat to very low and simmer for 1 1/2- 2hours. Stirring occasionally. Cook until meat is fork tender. . Serve over egg noodles, rice or mashed potatoes.
