Ryan's Pizza Sauce

Introduction

Ingredients

    1 (8oz) can of tomato paste (I use Giant brand)
    8oz warm tap water (use the tomato paste can)
    2 T grated parmesan cheese (100% Kraft)
    1 garlic clove or 1 tsp minced garlic from a jar
    1/2 cup diced onions
    1 tsp olive oil
    26 grams of fresh mushrooms (optional)
    1/8 tsp dried red pepper flakes
    1/8 tsp salt to taste
    1 T honey
    1 tsp anchovy paste
    1/4 tsp dried oregano
    1/4 tsp dried marjoram
    1/4 tsp dried basil
    1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Directions

1) Saute onions and mushrooms (optional) in 1 tsp olive oil over medium heat. Cool and drain if excess liquid.

2) Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the tomato paste, water, parmesan cheese, garlic, honey, anchovy paste, oregano, marjoram, basil, black pepper, red pepper, and salt. Mix well. Add cooled mushrooms and onions to the bowl.

3) Sauce should sit for 30 minutes to blend flavors or can be used immediately. Spread over pizza dough as desired. Makes approx three 1/2 cup servings or 1.8 cups. Sauce freezes well if you don't use it immediately.
