Pork Sausage Agrodolce

Slow-Cooker Meal Slow-Cooker Meal
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 pkg (about 1.5 lbs) Wegmans Mild Italian Pork Sausage Links
    Spritz of extra virgin olive oil
    1/2 medium head green cabbage, cored, thinly sliced into bite-sized pieces (about 10 cups)
    1 red onion, peeled, 1/2-inch dice
    1/2 cup golden raisins
    1 can (14.5 oz) Italian Classics Petite Diced Tomatoes with Garlic & Olive Oil
    1 can (6 oz) Wegmans Tomato Paste
    1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
    1/2 cup Italian Classics Chianti Red Wine Vinegar
    1 Tbsp sugar

Directions

1. Spritz oil in skillet on MEDIUM-HIGH. Brown sausage 4-5 min; set aside.

2. Layer green cabbage and onions in slow-cooker.

3. Combine raisins, tomatoes, tomato paste, crushed red pepper, red wine vinegar, and sugar in medium-sized bowl. Pour atop mixture in cooker. Place sausage on top of all.

4. Set cooker to HIGH, 4-6 hours or LOW 8-10 hours.

5. Arrange on individual plates.



Chef Tip(s):
Cuisinart or mandolin works well for slicing cabbage.
Cabbage and onion can be cut one day ahead.
Prepare ahead by layering all except for sausage. Brown and top mixture with sausage just before starting cooker.
