Introduction

I love the broccoli at Holly’s Mandarin so much that I asked them to show me how to make it. Here is the recipe as best as I could replicate. Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    Broccoli in Garlic Sauce
    (Chinese style)

    1. In a small bowl, combine the following and set aside:
    • 3 tablespoons corn starch
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce
    • 1 cup cold water

    2. Sauté 3-5 minutes:
    • 3 tablespoons canola oil
    • 1 onion, cut in large pieces
    • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
    • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)

    3. Add the following and continue to sauté until broccoli is almost tender:
    • 2 bags broccoli, parboiled

    4. Add soy sauce mixture to the broccoli and continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes or until the sauce is clear.

    Note: If you want, you can parboil the broccoli in vegetable stock or in chicken-like stock.
