Submitted by: LIMASTAR

Introduction

Dry Garbanzo Beans are cooked in water and some chicken broth to eat as is or for use in other recipes. Dry Garbanzo Beans are cooked in water and some chicken broth to eat as is or for use in other recipes.
Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

1 lb Garbanzo Beans (Chick Peas), Dried
    1 Cup Chicken Broth
    6 Cups Water

Directions

1. Rinse Garbanzo Beans and check for any foreign matter.
2. Fill a large pan with water and add the Garbanzo Beans.
3. Bring to a boil and then simmer for about 2 hours or until soft.

At this point you can eat as is or use for other dishes. I like to add some pepper and eat as is. I will also add about a cup or two to one can of Indian Spicy Garbanzo beans to flavor the plain beans and to cut down on the sodium content of the canned beans.

Servings: About 10 half cups
