Smoky Gouda-sauced Broccoli

    1 1/4 pound Broccoli, fresh,
    1/2 cup chopped Onions,
    2 cloves Garlic, minced
    1 TBS Butter, unsalted,
    2 TBS Flour,
    1/8 tsp black Pepper,
    1 1/2 cups low fat Milk,
    3 ozs shredded SMOKED Gouda Cheese
    3/4 cup Bread crumbs
    2 tsp Butter melted


Steam cook broccoli until tender

Meanwhile in a medium saucepan cook and stir the onion and garlic in the 1 TBS hot butter until tender. Stir in flour, pepper and mix well.
Add the milk. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Gradually add cheese stirring until melted.

Transfer broccoli to a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Pour sauce over broccoli. Combine bread crumbs and the 2 tsp melted butter: sprinkle over sauce. Bake, uncovered in a 425 oven for 15 minutes or until bread crumbs are lightly browned.
