Nana's Pasta Sauce

Introduction

Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    3 - 29 oz cans Tomato Sauce
    1 - 29 oz can of Tomato Puree
    1 6 oz can of Tomato Paste
    2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
    1/2 cup of onion, finely chopped
    1 tbsp of fresh parsley chopped
    4 to 5 fresh basil leaves chopped
    2 tsp of sugar
    5 tbsp of vegetable oil

Directions

In a big stock pot heat oil on medium heat. Put in onion and garlic. Stirring frequently cook until light golden color. Add sauce, puree and paste. Then add parsley, basil and sugar. Season to taste with pepper and salt. Stirring frequently, heat until it boils. Then turn down heat to simmer for about 2 and 1/2 hours. Optional - Nana adds different meat to her sauce. she cooks them in for the flavor. She adds her homemade meatballs, italian sausage, cuts of pork, or beef.

This will make enough for about 20 servings. Freeze remaining sauce.
