Ingredients

Ground elk or extra lean hamburger
Onion
Garlic
Tomato paste
Beef Broth
Red Wine
Carrots, chopped
Zucchini, chopped
Thyme and Oregano
Cornstarch
Water
Pillsbury dough breadsticks - 2 packages
Directions
Serves 8
Brown ground elk (or beef) in large saucepan. Add onion and garlic and stir for a few minutes. Next add zucchini and carrots and continue stirring for about 5 minutes.
Add tomato paste, seasonings, broth and red wine. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 5-10 minutes to allow flavors to meld together. Dissolve 2 tsp cornstarch in water and add to meat mixture to thicken slightly.
Spray a small amount of pam in a casserole dish, pour in meat mixture and then top with criss-cross strips of the raw breadsticks. Bake at 375 for approximately 20-25 minutes.
