In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tarter and salt.
Cut in the butter.
Stir in the sour cream mixture and egg into the flour butter & egg mixture until just moistened.
Mix in the raisins, currant, craisins or other goodies.
Turn dough out on lightly floured surface and knead briefly. Roll dough into a 1 inch thick.
Cut into wedges or with a biscuit cutter and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown on the bottom.
Makes about 2 dozen.
