Banana Sorbet

Submitted by: SWMRGRL302

Introduction

I found this recipe online while trying to figure out what to do with some bananas that were going bad, other than the usual banana bread or smoothie. I modified it to be a little healthier (the original wanted 1 cup of sugar!) and a little creamier with some more flavor. Ingredients

1 cup mashed bananas (usually about 3 bananas)
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 cup water
    splash of lemon juice
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp nutmeg
    1/4 cup milk
    1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

Mix together water, sugar, and a little lemon juice in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and allow it to cool.

In a freezer-safe container, mix bananas, spices, milk, and a little lemon juice. Stir in cooled liquid sugar mixture. Place in the freezer for 3-4 hours, until the edges are firm.

Remove from the freezer, pour into a mixing bowl and blend until creamy. Add chopped walnuts. Freeze until gently set, at least 2 hours.
