Ingredients

1 pound extra lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
    2--4 tbs chili powder
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    2 tbsp basil
    2 tbsp oregano
1 cup tomato sauce (small can)
    1.5 cups brown rice
    1 cup shredded cheddar

Directions

Brown hamburger while breaking up into small pieces. Add onions while you do, and garlic and chili powder when nearly brown. Stir in tomato sauce, oregano and basil, add the rice and enough water to allow rice to cook. In a large frypan, this will bring the water level about 1/2 inch below the top. stir, and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer until rice is done. Sprinkle the cheese on top, cover just until melted, serve. (Cooking time may be a bit less, just go by what works on your stove.)
