Introductiona classic from my mom a classic from my mom
1 pound of beans - I use a combination of borlotti, kidney and navy beans
6 cups of water
1 cup of onions
1/2 cup of ketchup
1/2 cup of salsa
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 to 1 tsp of hot pepper sauce
1/4 cup molasses
1 tsp of dry mustard or 2 tsp of prepared dijon mustard
1 Tbsp vinegar - I like balsamic
Drain beans ass 6 cups of water and onions. Cook until tender about 1 hour or place in slow cooker for 6-8 hours.
Drain and discard water.
Stir in remaining ingredients and cook 30 minutes.
