Pea Soup Gone Horribly Wrong

Introduction

That happens when too many mushrooms meet an urge for pea soup. And Texas happens. Wow this tastes good! That happens when too many mushrooms meet an urge for pea soup. And Texas happens. Wow this tastes good!
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    1 lb. Split Peas, dried
    1 lg. onion
    2T Canola Oil
    7 stalks Celery,
    1/2 lb. Carrots
    32-36oz white mushrooms
    12 cloves Garlic
    2T Tabasco Sauce
    1T Paprika
    9C water

Directions

1. Chop onions & mince garlic Chop celery finely, carrots into 2" chunks
2. Rince the peas well
3. Heat oil
4. Saute garlic and onions
5. When they've softened up, add the split peas, still 'em 'til they crackle, then add the water.
6. When it comes to a boil, add the tabasco.
7. Keep it at a boil for twenty minutes, lid on. Then lower to a simmer for 40 minutes
8. If you want a smoother consistency, toss three cups into the blender and add again
