Cream Sauce Mix

Very versatile and puts you in complete control of the sodium level. Use as a thin or medium white sauce, or substitute for a can of cream soup in recipes. This would make about 4 "cans" of soup, so I based the servings on 4 servings for each can...not an easy recipe to figure servings for. Ingredients

2 c. instant nonfat dry milk
3/4 c. cornstarch
4 tsp. instant minced onion
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
2 tsp. Mrs. Dash original
Directions
Combine all ingredients in an air-tight container; mix well. Store in cool, dry place.
24 servings of 2 T. each
Substitute for condensed cream soup: Combine 1 1/4 c. water (use beef, vegetable or chicken stock for flavor or add a bouillon cube or two to the water) and 1/2 c. sauce mix in saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil; reduce heat and simmer while stirring for 1 min. Equals one can condensed cream soup.
Medium white sauce: Combine 1 c. water and 1/4 c. sauce mix. Follow directions as above. Add cheese or other ingredients to taste.
Thin white sauce: Combine 1 c. water and 3 T. sauce mix. Follow directions as above.
To mircowave: Using a 2 c. microwave safe bowl combine water and mix blending well. Microwave on HIGH for 4-5 min. or until mixture thickens and boils, stirring once halfway through cooking.
