Low Cal, Low Carb, HIGH PROTEIN Tuna and cottage cheese bake! Give it a try!
Number of Servings: 4
Ingredients
-
2 cups cottage cheese
2 cans (approx. 14 ounces) tuna, drained
1/2 cup oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup finely chopped celery
2 egg whites (or whole eggs but changes cal content)
Directions
* Serves 4*
Combine cottage cheese, tuna, 1/4 cup oats, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, celery, and onion. Blend tuna cheese mixture into the beaten eggs; pour into a greased 1-quart baking dish. Combine remaining oats with 2 tablespoons of butter(if desired, I don't use the butter) and sprinkle over top of casserole. Set in a large pan of hot water and bake at 375° for 30 minutes or until firm.
I like to spice it up sometimes too and add red pepper flakes, and other vegetables. I have a new oven and a quick note, it doesn't cook as well with, I have decreased the amount of tuna to 10oz. Hope it works for you. I love cooking with cottage cheese as a great cheesy high protein substitute.
