Blushing Pears

Submitted by: TL-CHICKYBUM

Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

2 Pkg. (4-serving size each) Jell-O Brand Raspberry Flavour Gelatin

    1 qt. (4 cups) water

4 firm, ripe peeled pears, such as Bosc, Barlett or Anjou

1/2 cup thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping

Directions

Mix gelatin and water in a 3- to 4-quart saucepot. Bring to boil on medium heat, stirring frequently until gelatin is completely dissolved.

Add pears; partially cover saucepot with lid. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 20 minutes or just until pears are tender, stirring gently every 10 minutes. Remove pears from liquid, reserve liquid for another use (see tip below) or discard.

Serve pears warm or cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight. Top each pear with 2 tbsp. whipped topping.

TIP:
After draining the cooked pears, pour the liquid evenly into 8 dessert dishes. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or until set, for a refreshing Jell-O snack!

Nutrition Bonus:
Enjoy this low fat dessert served warm or cold. The pears are a good source of fibre.
