Introduction

This is a crockpot recipe from Prevention.com. I reduced the sugar from 2/3 cup to 1/3 cup, the chocolate chips from 1 cup to 1/2 cup, and I added 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce to make it moister. Ingredients

    2/3 cup flour
    1/3 cup sugar
    1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup fat free evaporated milk
    1/3 cup oil
    1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips

Directions

Spray 4 quart or larger crockpot with Pam. In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients together, except for chips. Mix the liquid ingredients together and then add them to the dry ingredients. Stir in the chips. Spread batter into crockpot. Cover and cook on low 1-2 hours (depending on how hot your crockpot cooks). Cake is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Turn heat off and remove cover for 15 minutes before removing from crockpot. Yields 12 pieces.

  • Good taste but I think I'll cook it on high next time I think my crockpot wasn't hot enough even with two hours. - 2/1/10
