Mom's Dressing

Ingredients

    8 cups bread cubes
    1 large onion, diced
    2 stalk celery, sliced
    1/2 cup butter
    1 tbsp pepper
    2 tbsp sage
    1/2 cup chicken broth

Directions

Cut up bakery bread to make about 8 cups of bread cubes and let dry by spreading out on a cookie sheet for a few days or by placing in 200 degree oven until dry.

Saute onion and celery in the butter until translucent. Add to the breadcubes and mix well.

Season with pepper and sage. Mix well and taste to see if you want more sage.

Moisten with chicken broth. All the breadcubes should be moistened but not soggy.

Place in a greased roasting pan and bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. If you want a crisp top, leave uncovered. Or cook for half hour with top and then remove for last half hour.

Freezes well.

Makes 16 - 1/2 cup servings.
