Vegitarian shuumai

Introduction

Chinese steamed dumplings. Chinese steamed dumplings.
Number of Servings: 5

Ingredients

    1/2lb lite firm tofu
    1/2 cup grated carrot
    1/2 cup napa cabbage shredded
    1 tbs thai chili sauce
    2tbs onion/scalion
    2tsp Ginger grated
    1 tbs soy sauce
    2 tsp sesame oil
    1 egg lightly beaten

Directions

Makes 35-40 shuumai.
Drain and press tofu on kitchen papers setting a plate on top and adding weight on top for 30 min. Tofu needs to be as dry as possible or your mix will be liquidy. Mix all ingrediants. Fill wrappers with ringed fingers pressing top down, not too hard, but forming tall and round dumplings with filling showing on top. Spray steamer of choice with non stick cooking spray and steam for 10-12 min. Enjoy with dumpling sauce. Recipe in my bento cookbook.
