Red Beans and Ham

Ingredients

    1pkg. Zatarain's New Orleans Style Red Bean Seasoning Mix
    1 lb. of small red beans, 13 servings
    10 oz. cured ham

Directions

Rinse and sort beans.
Add 6 to 8 cups of water and soak over night.
Drain soak water and rince.
Place beans in a crock pot with 6 cups of water or broth.
Add Zatarain's seasoning mix and ham.
Cook for six to eight hours on high.

  • I substituted Zatarain's Red beans and rice because our grocery does not carry the red bean mix. I also went on-line for a creole seasoning recipe.

    Hence, mine was too salty. Not enough ham. Too many beans. Taste was okay but need a sweet side dish to complement - 2/9/09
