Beef and Bean Dip with Cheddar Cheese/Onion Topping

Introduction

This is a recipe my mom use to make with some of my own tweaks. It was called Taco Hor Douerves. Good basic recipe to build to suit your own tastes. This is a recipe my mom use to make with some of my own tweaks. It was called Taco Hor Douerves. Good basic recipe to build to suit your own tastes.

Ingredients

    1 pound ground beef
    1 medium onion chopped
heaping TBSP of prepared minced garlic
1 15-16 oz can of beans such as red kidney beans
    1 1/2 TBSP Chili Powder
    pepper or to taste
    salt or to taste
1/4 Crushed Red Pepper Flakes or to taste
    1/2 cup raw onion chopped
    1 cup grated cheddar cheese

*optional ~ add sliced olives on top after baking

Directions

approximately 12 servings (1/2 cup)

saute onions and garlic
add and brown hamburger meat
mash beans into cooked meat/onion/garlic mixture
Add ketchup
add chili powder
add red pepper flakes
add seasonings of your choice - salt, pepper
place mixture in place in small baking dish or pie tin
top with 1/2 chopped raw onions
sprinkle approximately 1 cup cheddar cheese over the top

*bake at 350 degress for about 20 minutes
I usually run the broiler a minute or so at the end to get the desired browning I want on top of the dip.

Serve with tortilla chips or spread on your choice of wrap. Also good for hotdog topping if any left over.

This recipe was entered using the ingredients I had on hand. You could cut down on fat by using lean ground beef. Use the seasonings to your own taste. You can eliminate the salt if you have a sodium restricted diet or use low sodium ketchup. Feel free to make the recipe hotter by adding jalepenos or any ingredient you desire.
