IntroductionMade with 1/2 wheat and 1/2 white flour. Made with 1/2 wheat and 1/2 white flour.
3 cups of white or whole wheat flour, or 1-1/2 cups of each (plus a little extra flour for kneading)
1 teaspoon salt
1 packet, or about 2 teaspoons yeast
1 tablespoon sugar or brown sugar or honey
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup warm water (room temp)
Mix dry ingredients first then add the rest and when it all pulls together in the bowl turn it out onto a floured surface for kneading.
Knead at least 5 mins and then put in the (now clean) bowl and coat lightly with oil. Cover with a cloth and keep out of drafts until doubles in size (approx 1-2 hours). Knead again for a few moments and shape into loaf and put into oiled bread pan. Allow to rise another hour or two until it's a good size and then bake at 350 degrees for 30 mins. Turn out of pan and allow to cool before slicing.
