Chili - Ground Turkey Chili Stew

This is a recipe that I have been experimenting with and tweaking for years. Always a family favorite and they didn't even notice the difference when I re-invented it using low fat ingredients and turkey instead of beef.

The best thing about this meal is how much fun you can have making it. Since it is more of a "stew" I have added all kinds of different vegetables and sometimes even put left over pot roast in with it. Have fun and be creative!

Not so Chili- Chili

This is a wonderful alternative to chili with the added veges it soups it up. Place over Pasta for the kids and sprinkle with cheese. My kids ate the last drop.

turkey chili

Great chilit to make a pot of and eat on all week long.
My family loves it for a healthy and hearty quick meal. Great over baked potatoes too. Sometimes I use canned beans and rinse them, but find it is easy enough and lots cheaper to use dried beans and either soak them overnite or throw them into a pot to boil for 10 minutes and then let sit for a couple of hours. This is great in a crock pot or on top of the stove for the afternoon. You can add yummy garnishes such as diced avacadoes, onions, or shredded cheese. I like with a shot of tabasco in mine.

Boca Black Bean Chili

This black bean chili recipe is great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Mexican black bean sausage chili sauce

What to eat when you're feeling deprived or bored that fits almost any kind of protein you care to add. Makes a big batch so you can freeze it. This is a bit too hot eat on its own, but is a show-stopping counter-point when served over rice and meat. My husband refuses to go out for Mexican food, but he loved this. Reduce the cumin and chipotle peppers if you like it milder.

Easy Vegetarian Bean Chili

This vegetarian chili is so good you won't even miss the meat! It's also extremely easy to make!

Although it isn't reflected in the nutritional info, I rinse the beans (except the chili beans) to cut down on sodium, and sometimes I even use dried beans instead of canned to cut the sodium even more.

I'm sure this would also be good with corn and other veggies added to it. It's hard to mess up chili!

Makeover Texas Chili

This is a recipe I had for chili and loved that I lightened up because it originally called for pork sausage. I also substituted ground round for ground beef. This is "real" Texas Chili, meaning that there are no beans or noodles in it. You can adjust the amount of chili powder to suit your taste. Goes great with low fat sour cream and low fat cheese. Calculations are without toppings or the cayenne pepper. This chili definitely has a kick to it.

In my opinion, chili knows no season. Summer, winter, whenever. And the extra beans make this dish super high in fiber and protein!

4 Reds Crock Pot Chili

Kind of a mix of a variety of recipes to come up with this hot and sweet chili. Top with low fat sour cream or cheddar cheese if desired. Serve with whole wheat pitas or over rice. My kids loved it!
