I try to weigh or measure everything. My hunger gets in the way of my visual. judgment.

restaurants have a lot to answer for with the amount of food they put on a plate! They are also slow to bring a box when you ask for it with your meal rather than waiting until the end of the meal.

I know that a serving of cheese is the size of a dice but I have a hard time with that one. I just love cheese!

I've seen my typical portion sizes shrink a lot since joining Sparkpeople. What I eat now is more realistic for my size and age.

I try to fix enough for two meals, that way I have it for dinner and then lunch the next day.

It is important to notice a Portion is not same as a Serving.
If one eats 3 meals a day, having the minimum 6 servings of grains means eating one cup (not half!) per meal (if divided evenly).
I often see dieters believe they should limit themselves to one portion per meal, which is of course miserably small, unsustainable and unhealthy.

I use my kitchen scale to measure all my food, except non-starchy vegetables, it helps me maintain my weight.

Great info! I just wish the article did not start by showing a pile of donuts.
