Check for frozen versions of your fresh foods. My favourite is frozen advocado - £2.50p for 500g - it goes from being a treat to being a salad staple. Frozen fruit can make an ace fruit salad for a desert and frozen veggies are dirt cheap. You can get good deals on frozen meat too.

Shop the perimeter and skip the bakery and processed "food", better still find a local farmer's market!

I use to clip coupons all the time, but where we live now, the local paper might have coupons in it once every 6 weeks or so and the store doesn't always accept coupons I print on line - if the machine won't scan it they can't manually put in the information :(

We go grocery shopping first thing in the morning and don't leave home without a list. Unless hubby sees something that he wants, we only get what is on the list and never anything else.

I always have a calculator in my purse, I do the math in my head (want to keep my brain sharp :) ) but will confirm the math with the calculator.

A local food store will shop forvyou. You give them a list. They shop and bag it you pay. The cost is $5. I can spend a lot more than that in impulse buys.
