I have braces so I make smoothies every morning for breakfast for my boyfriend and I. I freeze 8 oz containers of non-fat plain or vanilla yogurt and throw that into the blender with a banana, frozen fruit (mangos, pineapple, strawberries, whatever was in the store) tofu and skim milk or fruit juice and blend. It is a good kick-start to the day and provides lots of vitamins, fiber and protien.

i'm new,too !! I love smoothies--an easy way to add your fruits--what do you think of using slimfast as a powder of choice?

My 11 yr old son and I LOVE smoothies. He often requests one every day. We like our base to be vanilla yougurt adding a handful of berries, pineapple or banannas. I like to use Splenda to sweeten it because it doesnt have that diety taste. Yougurt is great for women's health too!

I noticed the ideas to add flax so I will try that. Also, want to try to add protein.

I get stressed out when I exercise and diet at the same time. Seems to me that I eat more when I exercise. I realize that exercise is great for the body to get toned up and feeling good, but I have a very hard time doing both at the same time. I will try just dieting and when I get down to where I have to be, I will start an exercise program to keep my weight down. Hope this works.

I have been using smoothies as a kickstart breakfast for a few months now. I picked up a bullet blender from a friend who was moving and I haven't looked back. I get a good two or three servings of fruit out of my smoothies, as well as added calcium and protein. Plus, it's a lot easier to make a smoothie than to wait for eggs or toast! One thing that I found helpful was to put my blender right next to the fruit bowl. I just pull out whatever I want, add my favorite juice and a single serving yogurt and blend it all up. It really cheers me up in the morning to know that a smoothie is only a few minutes away!

Just starting today. I was wondering if anyone else has hyperthyroidism. Would love to discuss your diet with you. I like the idea of smoothies. I use blueberries, almond milk and I'm thinking of adding a powder protein but I haven't bought one yet, any suggestions for a good protein with low sugar. I also use Omega 3,6,9, 1000 mg every day.
I think it will be fun to have a support group going through this. I look forward to talking to you soon.
