A tangy sauerbraten perfect for Oktoberfest! I put the serving size pretty small as we're on a portion-controlled diet.
This is a comfort food so the portions are not skimpy which is why there are so many calories. I think there are actually less calories because I drain and rinse the cooked meat with water before mixing with other ingredients. Feel free to half the serving size and save some for later. It heaps a regular sized bowl. Enjoy!!!
There might be more than 4 oz of meat on each shank, so you may have to re-calculate the servings, just remove meat from bones before serving..Add or omit spices and veggies according to your taste.
i use very little salt so everyone can add at the table.
