A wonderful recipe that I've had forever, and haven't made in a while for some reason. The flavours are infinitely variable, this is my favourite version. Great healthy summer snack for kids!
Filled with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and crushed banana chips... it's like the best guilty pleasure sandwich you could ever make, but so much better!
This recipe is courtesy of my Pastry Arts professor Amjad. I never pictured a sponge-based layer cake whenever this dessert was mentioned. To me, it was slightly sweet biscuits with plain whipped cream and plently of in-season (only!) strawberries piled high. Who knew!
I grew up on this. The brown sugar is so tasty you don't miss the extra sugar.
I have not tried this recipe with sugar substitutes. I am sure that someone will so please let us know if it works.
I modifed this a little bit from a recipe found on the internet, mainly to make it both casein free and baking-machine capable. Instructions also included for regular oven baking.
NO bananas....I really do not like bananas in anything, so this was great for me! This was way too good to believe and easy to make.
Makes 8 (1/2 cup) servings
Flavor combinations:
Orange gelatin and Vanilla pudding
Raspberry gelatin and Chocolate pudding
I personally like to make individual cakes in muffin tins. It helps with portion control, and I don't have to deal with an entire cake. I spread out the batter into 24 muffin tins.
If I want to use a Bundt pan, I cut this and freeze it in individual baggies to avoid temptation!
The original recipe calls for 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar and 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, which is drizzled on top of the cake. It will up the calorie count a wee bit, though and I don't think the cake needs it.
This is a lower calorie, low fat version of our family favorite.
You can use fat free cool whip, and almonds. You will think you are being bad, but your not!
Enjoy protein-packed decadent treat just as it is, or spoon pudding into a pre-made graham cracker crust!
Either way this easy Cheesecake Protein Pudding dessert will leave you satisfied while still keeping that waist line slim!
